Finding what you want in Discussions

Overview

The Discussions application lets members post ideas, queries, and information for other team members to read and respond to.

Seeing what's in Discussions

To go to the Forums page, click Discussions in the Menu. On the Forums page, you see the following:

 

Forum

The name of the Forum and a description of why it was created.

Topics

Indicates the total number of topics in the forum.

Posts

Indicates the total number of messages in the forum.

Recent

The number of messages that have been added to the forum within the last three days.

Last Post

The last time someone posted a message to the forum. Date and time is indicated in your time zone.

Started By

If you need to access to the forum, contact the person who started it to give you the appropriate permissions.

Edit

If you are the forum manager or a site administrator, you can edit the forum and you see the edit icon beside it.

Delete

If you are the forum manager, you can delete the forum and you see the delete icon beside it.

Click the forum you want to read. To expand the messages in a topic, click the + sign beside the topic you want to read.

Click the subject of a message to read it. To advance to the next message in the topic, click next. To go back to the previous message, click previous.

Searching for forums

To search for a discussion message, enter key words in the search field at the top of a Forum page. You can perform two types of text searches:

Message title only

This searches for key words in the title of the messages in a topic.

Message body and title

This searches for key words in the body and title of messages in a topic.

To view the latest messages posted to a forum, click View by Date at the upper-right of the Forums page. To go back to the date view, click View by Topic at the upper-right of the Forums page.
